Unpacking Binary Systems of Sex & Gender

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Have you been feeling erased by recent conversations about gender? Have you wondered if you missed the meeting where we decided that sexism and transphobia were somehow two separate deals? Are you longing for a framework that links struggles for sexuality, gender and reproductive liberation for all people? Drawing on their nearly 25 years together in the Trans Liberation and anti-violence movements, Jake and Connie will unpack the dominant culture Binary System of Sex and Gender. We’ll take a critical (and sometimes hilarious!) look at rigid gender expectations, and how they relate to the systems of oppression that divide us. We will explore how our experiences relate, and how people of all genders can build solidarity to work for freedom.
