We are working to create a world where everyone can live and love freely without fear. Inspired by the We Choose All of Us campaign by the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence, this year’s conference will explore what it means to choose love, choose democracy, and to choose community. Join us to get inspired and learn how to put these big concepts into action in your daily life and work.

Executive Director
Joanne Alcantara is the Executive Director for API Chaya. A Chinese and Filipino immigrant, Joanne was born in the Philippines during Martial Law; her family fled to Seattle to escape violence. She is a Garfield High School and Wesleyan University graduate. After college, Joanne returned to Seattle to work for the Asian and Pacific Islander Women and Family Safety Center, one of the parent organizations for API Chaya. For over a decade, Joanne worked as a community organizer, including being a founding member of GABRIELA USA, an overseas chapter of GABRIELA Philippines, a progressive Filipino women’s alliance. Joanne returned to API Chaya’s work after several years working as a Development Director and Finance Manager in Juneau, Alaska. With her wife, she has five kids, and two grandkids.
