We Choose Love! We Choose Democracy! We Choose Community!

We are working to create a world where everyone can live and love freely without fear. Inspired by the We Choose All of Us campaign by the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence, this year’s conference will explore what it means to choose love, choose democracy, and to choose community. Join us to get inspired and learn how to put these big concepts into action in your daily life and work.

API Chaya
Language Access Organizer
Laurie Rocello Torres is the Language Access Organizer for API Chaya. They have been involved in work at the intersection of gender, economic, environmental and racial justice since 2013. Communication and language access is important to them because they recognize how imperative it is to understand what options and resources are available and to be understood by the people who are gatekeepers to those resources and services. In their free time they love to sing, dance, and teach a community self-defense and wellness class for queer and trans people of color with the Bayan Queer Collective. Laurie also currently serves as the Secretary General of GABRIELA Seattle, a collective of Pinays who do cultural and political education work around labor issues impacting Filipino migrant workers. Laurie is also part of the organizing committee for Migrante Seattle, an overseas chapter of the international organization serving Filipino Migrant workers globally.
